Access Foundation Branch within Mission Capability Division is a cross-functional, integrated team of Analysts, Developers, Engineers, Radio Frequency (RF) Technicians and Project Specialists working to deliver critical capabilities against some of ASD's hardest SIGINT access problems.
Shoal Bay Receiving Station (SBRS) based in Darwin and Australian Defence Satellite Communications Station (ADSCS) based in Geraldton are remote intelligence facilities managed by ASD. We are seeking energetic, highly organised and task-orientated Lead Data Centre Administrators to undertake a broad range of work in support of ASD's mission. You will play a critical role in supporting the internal infrastructure of one of the largest organisations within the National Intelligence Community.
You will be required to work closely between the two sites and other areas across the organisation.
Due to the unique nature of the work conducted at this location, staff may be provided the opportunity to obtain a range of additional qualifications including construction cards, truck and forklift licenses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of our data centre facilities. This role ensures the high availability, reliability, and performance of our critical systems and network infrastructure.
You will be a hands‐on professional, comfortable with everything from physical hardware installation and network cabling to monitoring environmental controls and responding to incidents.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Management
* Lead and develop the data centre administration.
* Promote a strong safety and continuous improvement culture across the two locations.
* Coordinate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage arrays, network devices, and other data centre hardware.
* Manage rack space, power distribution, and cable management (copper and fibre) to ensure a clean, organised, and efficient environment.
* Perform regular hardware maintenance, upgrades, and component replacements.
Operations, Monitoring & Incident Management
* Monitor the health and performance of all data centre infrastructure, including power (UPS, PDUs), cooling (HVAC), and environmental systems.
* Respond promptly to alerts and alarms, diagnosing and working with appropriate teams to resolve hardware and network issues to minimise downtime.
* Maintain meticulous documentation of data centre layouts, asset inventory, network diagrams, and operational procedures.
Security & Compliance
* Assist in security and compliance audits (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI) by providing evidence and upholding standards.
* Coordinate with site resources to act as a \"remote hands\" technician for other geographically dispersed IT teams (e.g., network, server, storage) to assist with troubleshooting and physical tasks.
* Coordinate with vendors and external technicians for hardware repairs, maintenance, and new installations.
Capacity Planning
* Track and report on power, space, and cooling usage.
* Assist in planning for future capacity needs to support business growth.
