Role
The Leading Teacher is an instructional leader who is a highly skilled classroom practitioner and is known for improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. This Leading Teacher demonstrates particular strength in building the co-curricular engagement of students at Phoenix. The leading teacher will actively contribute to the Culture School Improvement Team (SIT) to deliver effective planning, implementation and evaluation of:
1. Program, services and activities which build engagement and wellbeing outcomes of students from Foundation to Year 12.
2. Policies and processes that enable to the College to offer students a wide range of activities both during the school day and after school.
3. Engage with key leaders and community agencies to respond to the voice of our students with regards to the provision of co-curricular activities.
4. Cross program co-ordination to ensure consistent delivery models and standards, including considerations of Child Safe Standards.
5. Building teacher capacity as it relates to implementation of health and wellbeing practices through communication, coaching, co-planning and lesson observation (which includes the protocols for observation, feedback and peer collaboration).
Responsibilities
The Leading Teacher – College Programs and Co-curricular Engagement will:
6. Demonstrate high level expertise in teaching and assessment, through having an open classroom and undertaking lesson observation.
7. Work alongside the Principal, Assistant Principals to identify and respond to student needs for co- curricular activities.
8. Identify community partners to compliment the delivery of co-curricular programs.
9. Communicate the College's co-curricular programs to key stake holders.
10. Document co-curricular programs and responsibly utilise associated budgets.
11. Work with the PLC planning team (as required) to ensure the effective implementation of PLC cycles at the College.
12. Assist with effective implementation of the PDP process.
13. Work with the College's leadership team to build collaborative practices, through effective implementation of Phoenix protocols which build collective efficacy.
14. Work with other learning specialists and leading teachers to establish a Community of Practice (COP) which focuses on building collective leader and teacher efficacy.
15. Work as an active member of the Culture SIT team and in collaboration with appropriate other Assistant Principals, Learning Specialists and Leading Teacher
16. Identify improvement opportunities and undertake other tasks as delegated by the Principal.

18. Teacher practice as identified through PLC and Staff Opinion survey.
19. Student engagement and wellbeing as identified through student wellbeing survey, PAT wellbeing survey and resilience project student survey.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

VIT LANTITE
To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching. In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.

Phoenix P-12 Community College is a large coeducational school, located in Sebastopol, which is a suburb of Ballarat. We service a wide geographical area including the suburbs of Delacombe, Redan and Sebastopol and rural townships within the Golden Plains.

Our Senior School structure has embraced the implementation of the new VCE and we are proud to offer a wide range of VCE and VET subjects both at school and through the cluster. Our Managed Individual Pathway (MIP’s) Team has expert knowledge and skills and our ability to support the transition to university, TAFE or work is exceptional. Senior students are supported by our designated VCE study centre, complete with a study centre manager, tutors and individually selected mentors.
