About The Role
The Maranoa Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - Airport & Aerodromes to lead our Regional Airports and Compliance team. This role is critical in providing a safe, secure, and compliant air transport gateway to the Maranoa Region while supporting economic growth, community development, and emergency response capabilities.
As the Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Roma and regional aerodrome operations, ensuring compliance with Local, State, and Federal legislation, and leading a team to deliver operational excellence. This is a safety-sensitive aviation role requiring leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Aviation Safety & Security
Perform the roles of Accountable Manager under CASR 139 and other statutory responsibilities including Aerodrome Reporting Officer, Security Contact Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and AIP Responsible Person. Manage and maintain key documents and processes, including the Aerodrome Manual, Transport Security Program, Safety Management System, and Emergency Plans. Lead aerodrome safety and security committees and emergency exercises. Ensure all regional Aeroplane Landing Areas are compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements.
Functional Leadership
Provide visible leadership to the Regional Airports and Compliance team and act as a key liaison with airlines, tenants, and stakeholders. Develop and manage operational and capital budgets, ensuring efficient and safe service delivery. Oversee leases, licenses, access agreements, and contractual arrangements for aerodrome operations. Ensure timely reporting, audits, and hazard mitigation across the region.
Continual Improvement
Review and enhance aerodrome operations and maintenance processes, integrating stakeholder feedback. Identify emerging industry trends and implement programs to mitigate risk. Lead team development initiatives to enhance capability and resilience.
Human Resource & Financial Management
Manage, mentor, and support the Regional Airports and Compliance team. Ensure team compliance with delegations, leave management, and operational standards. Identify opportunities to optimize lifecycle costs and implement audit recommendations.
