 
        
        Rural Generalist Trainee Position 
This is a 12-month rotational position within the Rural Acute Care program, providing experience for junior medical officers (JMOs) wishing to develop a baseline practical skillset for managing patients in a rural generalist setting. 
The trainee will be part of specific departmental rosters in Goulburn Hospital and will participate in rotations through various departments, including Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, General / Subacute Rehabilitation Medicine, Paediatrics & Child Health and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The trainee will also have set training time in General Practice and Aboriginal Health. 
Responsibilities and opportunities for supervised autonomous practice will be given to the trainee commensurate with their experience. This will be accompanied by appropriate supervision, training and support in multiple clinical settings to enable development of relevant skills during the training year. 
Selection Criteria 
Qualifications commensurate with the Essential Criteria for the role and relevant experience for the role 
Not currently registered with a specialist medical college for training 
Must have completed at least two postgraduate years of training, including a minimum 12-months experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent 
Evidence of satisfactory completion of at least 2 JMO terms within an acute care setting or demonstrated equivalent experience within the last 12 months 
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care 
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a supervised complex clinical setting utilising good clinical knowledge, skills, judgement and expertise appropriate for their level of training 
Demonstrated excellent communication skills and effective computer skills to facilitate safe clinical communication 
Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, effective time management, problem-solving skills and risk management 
Previous experience in and/or willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training to more junior colleagues
