Job Description:

In this role, the Group Safety Manager will identify opportunities for safety improvement across various business units and lead the implementation of safety practices and processes to drive improved safety outcomes.

This includes planning, organizing, and implementing WHS strategies, undertaking rehabilitation officer duties, and developing plans to maintain a safe working environment.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage all aspects of WorkCover claim management, policy management, and return to work.
2. Maintain positive relationships with WorkCover Claims Representatives and Management.
3. Liaise with medical providers to ensure timely appointments for claimants.
4. Meet with medical providers regularly regarding operational requirements and suitable duties across the organization.
5. Attend medical appointments with injured workers and create/maintain suitable duties plans.
6. Liaise with Payroll to ensure data required by WorkCover are provided promptly.
7. Register insurance claims (plant and equipment) and coordinate repairs.
8. Provide advice on legislative changes and compliance requirements.
9. Gather and validate injury and incident statistics.
10. Assist with health monitoring where required.
11. Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing across the organization.
12. Maintain and administer computerized safety software.
13. Point of contact for users.
14. Troubleshoot issues with contractors in Contractor Management Section.
15. Data entry when required.
16. Act as point of contact for local PPE supplier.
17. Periodically review contract/pricing.
18. Review PPE for operational suitability.
19. Assist Mill, Refinery, Farms, and BWEL with custom PPE requirements and solutions.
20. Provide training and assessment support to the organization.
21. Perform Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
22. Manage organizational safety documents and review/update as required.
23. Submit statutory records and reports to relevant government agencies.
24. Ensure business units submit annual safety plans that comply with organizational strategies.
25. Actively lead and participate in the development and implementation of Company safety initiatives and objectives.
