Overview
Our Lady's Assumption School is a double stream, co-educational Catholic primary school catering for children from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6 with a current enrolment of 470 children. We value Respect, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence to inspire our students to "Imagine, Believe and Succeed". We are seeking a Library Officer to join our team. This position is 0.23 FTE. Hours are 12:30pm to 3:30pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a clean, orderly and inviting Library space
* Create eye-catching book displays that reflect student interests and school calendar celebrations (e.g., Easter, Book Week, NAIDOC Week)
* Select books to fill gaps in the current collection to match student interests
* Manage the Library budget, in collaboration with the Principal
* Weed out old books for replacement or removal
* Return books to their correct position on the shelves
* Use the Library Management System effectively
* Conduct end-of-year rollover and print student barcodes
* Add/remove students from the Library Management System throughout the year
* Empower students who visit the Library at lunch to locate and return books efficiently
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated experience or ability to learn library management systems, cataloguing, and shelving procedures
* Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and proficiency with online databases
* Excellent oral and written communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents
* Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks such as shelving, processing new resources, and repairing books
Qualifications
* Completion or willingness to work towards completion of CEWA Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School
* Hold a current Working with Children Check
* Complete CEWA Child Protection & Mandatory Reporting Training
