**Classification**: Level B
**Salary package**: $103,841 - $ 117,736 per annum plus 17% superannuation
**Term**: Full time, Fixed Term (up to 2 years) (Part-time arrangements will be considered)
**Position overview**
The successful applicant will work actively with an international and ANU team on the design, analysis, prototyping and testing of a system to allow citizens to vote on paper in remote (but semi-trusted) settings such as overseas embassies or military bases. We aim to produce a practical, usable system that allows for genuine verification - both by voters that their vote has been properly included, and by election observers that the included votes are properly recorded. Cryptographic methods for end-to-end verifiable elections, and statistical methods for risk-limiting audits, will be highly relevant - applicants with existing knowledge in either area are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants with a strong research track record in cryptographic protocol design or analysis are also welcome.
The position will require implementing a significant amount of prototype code, to test the usability and feasibility of proposed designs. All of this will be released under open-source licenses.
The ANU provides attractive benefits and excellent support to maintain a healthy work/life balance and offers generous remuneration benefits, including four weeks paid vacation per year, assistance with relocation expenses and 17% employer contribution to superannuation. This also includes generous parental leave, the possibility of flexible and part time working arrangements, a parental and aged care support program, dual career hire programs, ANU school holiday programs, and childcare facilities on campus.
