About the role
As a Technical Officer (TGO2), you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, multi-disciplined pathology service within a regional laboratory, supporting accurate diagnostics and patient care outcomes. Working in a collaborative and professional environment, you will apply your technical expertise, experience and judgement to support research, operational activities and project-based programs that underpin safe and effective laboratory services.
In this role, you may work independently or take the lead on minor technical projects, providing day-to-day supervision and guidance within the team. You will be responsible for assessing and reporting on the technical suitability of equipment, procedures, processes and results, offering informed recommendations that support continuous improvement, quality assurance and service reliability across the laboratory.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, sound judgement and a commitment to quality laboratory practice, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment while supporting service delivery and continuous improvement.
* Qualifications and laboratory expertise
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised qualification (or equivalent), supported by demonstrated experience in a relevant laboratory environment and high-level knowledge of diagnostic laboratory practice and quality principles.
* Technical capability and problem solving
Proven ability to manage variable workloads, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in line with standard laboratory procedures, with experience in troubleshooting, problem resolution and the effective use of initiative.
* Supervision, communication and stakeholder engagement
Demonstrated ability to supervise and train laboratory personnel, prepare and present reports, and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients using well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
* Systems, compliance and professionalism
Sound numerical and keyboard skills, confidence using a range of computer software, and a strong understanding of Work Health and Safety practices, with the ability to work under limited supervision while maintaining a positive commitment to customer service.
