About the Position
As a Jewellery Designer at Doostan Pty Ltd, you will play a pivotal creative role in conceptualising and developing unique, high-quality jewellery pieces that align with our brand's commitment to luxury and individuality. This full-time position involves translating client visions and market trends into innovative designs suitable for both custom commissions and our in-store collections, ensuring each creation enhances our reputation for superior craftsmanship and aesthetic excellence while driving customer delight and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Determine the objectives and constraints of design briefs by consulting with clients, stakeholders, and management to understand requirements and preferences.
* Undertake product research and analyse functional, commercial, cultural, and aesthetic factors to inform design decisions.
* Formulate original design concepts for jewellery, including prototypes and details for personal adornment items using metals, precious stones, and other materials.
* Prepare sketches, diagrams, illustrations, plans, samples, and models (including digital where applicable) to effectively communicate design concepts.
* Negotiate design solutions with clients, sales teams, and manufacturing staff to refine and finalise pieces.
* Select, specify, and recommend appropriate materials, production methods, finishes, and techniques for manufacture, ensuring quality and feasibility.
* Detail and document selected designs for production, and collaborate on prototyping and realisation of final pieces.
Requirements
* Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
* AQF bachelor degree in design or a related field, or at least 2–3 years of relevant experience that demonstrates equivalent competency.
* Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a jewellery designer or in a closely related field.
* Strong technical skills in jewellery design processes, including sketching, prototyping, material knowledge (metals, gemstones, etc.), and familiarity with production techniques such as casting, engraving, and fabrication; proficiency in design software (e.g., CAD) is highly desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to consult effectively with clients, understand their needs, and present ideas persuasively.
* Creative mindset with strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and a passion for creating aesthetically and commercially viable pieces.
