Austral Construction are currently seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician to join our field service Teams on our projects in the Pilbara, Western Australia. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in maintaining and repairing civil plant equipment and heavy machinery, and 5 years of workshop supervisor or leading field teams. The role is rotational position of FIFO or DIDO on a 2 and 1 roster but are willing to consider residential in the Pilbara.

This is a FIFO role on a 2 and 1 roster out of Perth.

Responsibilities
* Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, including scheduled and unscheduled repairs for all plant and equipment.
* Provide timely and detailed reports to both the Civil Plant Superintendent and Project Managers, ensuring effective communication and transparency.
* Lead, support, and motivate a team of Field Diesel Mechanic, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
* Coordinate, allocate, and oversee daily work schedules and service routes to maximise operational efficiency.
* Ensure all field activities are conducted in strict accordance with safety standards and company policies.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and client-related issues promptly and professionally.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date service records, reports, and inventory documentation in line with company requirements.
* Coordinate the procurement of replacement equipment, parts, and supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Conduct thorough physical inspections and formally acknowledge receipt of delivered goods and materials.
* Initiate and manage parts requisitions through the Parts Team or Civil Plant Superintendent as required.
* Ensure materials are ordered and scheduled to arrive with minimal lead times to support operational continuity.
* Oversee the secure and efficient storage of materials, minimising double handling and mitigating the risk of loss or theft.
* Consistently comply with Austral HSE standards and procedures in all material handling activities.
Qualifications
* Relevant trade qualifications in Plant Maintenance Technician or Heavy Machinery Mechanic.
* Advanced maintenance fitting skills, including the installation and repair of equipment.
* Demonstrated experience in supervisory or Leading Hand roles, with a proven ability to lead teams effectively.
* Strong organisational and leadership capabilities, complemented by a proactive, "hands-on" approach.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
* Comprehensive technical knowledge pertinent to the civil construction and plant maintenance sector.
* Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex problems, particularly within hydraulic and control systems.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
* Extensive experience in the repair and servicing of all types of Civil Construction Mobile Plant machinery.
* Good communication skills to ensure all processes consistently reflect the company's mission statement and core values.
* In-depth understanding of mechanical diagnostics and repairs, including the interpretation and practical application of technical drawings.
* Possess a current driver's license, with a preferably Heavy Rigid (HR) class.
