Job Title: Principal DevOps Engineer

About the Role:
The Principal DevOps Engineer will lead the adoption of DevOps practices and uplift the capability of DevOps with operation and development teams across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cloud Infrastructure Design and Deployment: Design, develop and deploy cloud infrastructure environments for large and complex products through automated Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates.
* DevOps Standard Development: Implement, develop and document standards, processes and frameworks to support modern DevOps release deployments across all stages and iterations of the software development lifecycle.
* System Design and Implementation: Lead system design activities for strategic, large and complex systems development programmes. Develops effective implementation strategies consistent with specified requirements, architectures and constraints of performance and feasibility.
* Information Security Advice: Apply sound advice and guidance on Information Security practices ensuring that cloud solutions deployed are secure by design and embedded into solution architecture.
* Integration and Risk Management: Leads integration work in line with the agreed system and service design, measures and monitors the applications against development standards. Assesses risks and takes preventative action.
* Test Planning and Execution: Provides advice and guidance on test planning and executing in addition to adopting the use of modern testing methods, automated tools, and techniques to ensure high quality DevOps practices.
* Business Consultation and Cloud Solution Implementation: Through business consultation and collaboration gather requirements and identifying functional needs, define and implement cloud solutions as required.
* Tech Trend Evaluation and Adoption: Remain up to date with industry trends and technologies, evaluate benefits of adopting into the department, implement and drive adoption.
* Cloud Security and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to cloud security, access controls and privacy compliance/regulations. Collaborate with Security teams to implement controls, maintaining a high, compliant security posture.
Technical Skills and Abilities:
* Infrastructure-as-Code Technologies: Demonstrated experience in Infrastructure-as-Code technologies (BICEP, ARM)
* Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure Technologies: Demonstrated experience of Microsoft cloud infrastructure technologies (Azure, DevOps)
* Cloud Resource Deployment via CI/CD Pipelines: Demonstrated experience in deploying cloud resources via CI/CD pipeline toolsets (DevOps Pipelines)
* Cloud Networking and Security Appliance Configuration: Sound understanding of cloud networking and security appliance configuration and designs
* Automated Testing Toolsets: Experience in automated testing toolsets and the development of unit testing
* Solution Design and Architecture: Proven ability to translate requirements into appropriate solution designs and architecture
* Stakeholder Relationship Management: Experience in managing stakeholder relationships across a diverse landscape.
* DevOps Standards and Practices Coaching: Proven ability to coach and mentor others in the adoption and capability uplift of DevOps standards and practices across teams and technical domains.
