Exciting opportunity to join a Federal Government Agency that is working in partnership with the community, local organisations, the Central Australian Regional Controller, the Northern Territory Government and relevant Commonwealth Government agencies to deliver on the Government's commitment to improving social and economic outcomes in Central Australia.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Strategic Communications and Media Lead. This is a 12-month non-ongoing role, offering a unique opportunity to play a key role in driving communication strategies that support the implementation of funded projects under the Plan. S26 temporary transfers welcome. This role is Canberra based with the flexibility to work from home 2 days per week. Salary negotiable within the APS 6 band commensurate with experience. Please note that some travel may be required.
**Key Duties**:
- Develop high-level media and communications materials for external and internal audiences
- Draft media statements for the Minister and other key stakeholders
- Answer media inquiries and coordinate publications and event planning
- Collaborate with partners to develop content, including visuals and interviews with key stakeholders
- Showcase meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines
- Work with senior executives, the wider agency Media and Comms Team, and ministerial offices
- Adhoc travel, spending time in Alice Springs and remote Central Australia for media opportunities
- Support communication products for three branches within the Group, all focused on Central Australia
**Key Requirements**:
- Proven experience in a Communications role at the APS 6 level within the public sector
- A strong background in media and communications, with exceptional writing skills
- A strategic thinker with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Innovation, organization, and self-motivation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives, wider teams, and ministerial offices
- Willingness to undertake adhoc travel, including to remote areas of Central Australia
- A keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external stakeholders
- Baseline clearance required.
