Summary
The Intellectual Property Manager is accountable for developing and executing an intellectual property (IP) framework. The role will ensure ASC's compliance with contractual and IP obligations under the Head Contract and ASC's existing governance arrangements. The Intellectual Property Manager is responsible for providing advice in relation to Intellectual Property and assisting the SSN-AUKUS Build Program to effectively identify, capture and manage IP, ensuring positive commercial outcomes are favourable to ASC, its partners and customers.
Responsibilities
* Develop, enhance and maintain ASC's IP management procedures and frameworks to ensure best‐practice IP use, protection, and governance under the SSN‐AUKUS build Program.
* Provide advice and guidance on IP‐related issues to SSN‐AUKUs Build Program teams in consultation with the Legal and the broader Commercial team, including categorising IP and advising on the handling of IP shared with SSN‐AUKUS Build Program stakeholders.
* Manage program‐related IP in line with contractual licensing, management frameworks, procedures, and guidelines.
* Collaborate closely with Legal, Information Mobilisation, Security and Technology/Export Controls teams, along with SSN‐AUKUS Build Program stakeholders more broadly.
* Adapt working hours flexibly to support engagement with SSN‐AUKUS Build Program stakeholders, and be available for periodic or regular overseas travel.
* Support transitional and evolving structures aligned to the maturity of partnership arrangements with BAE Systems.
Essential Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications (related to law, intellectual property law, business management and engineering).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* A minimum of 5 to 10+ years' experience in intellectual property management, particularly in a defence program or complex industrial program.
* Demonstrated in‐depth, current knowledge of intellectual property law, particularly copyright law and other IP related matters such as IP ownership and licensing.
* Experience in the provision of intellectual property advice.
* Understanding of IP administration (including the development and management of IP registers) and compliance procedures will be critical to success.
* Extensive experience in managing and mitigating IP risk.
* High quality writing skills, excellent time management and organisation skills, the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.
* Demonstrable high‐level verbal and written communication skills.
* Autonomous, goal‐directed and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited direction.
