Economic Analyst (ASO4/5) – ASO4-ASO5 Level ($76,561 - $95,413). Classification and salary dependent on level of skill and experience.

About The Role

Reporting to the Director, Economics, the Economic Analyst is responsible for preparing economic research and analysis that contributes to the Commission's independent regulatory decisions. This is an ideal role for those early in their economics career and looking to build a career in economics and regulatory policy.

* Economic and Financial Analysis: Apply discipline specific (e.g., economic and finance concepts) knowledge and techniques.
* Research and Communication: Assist in preparing written economic reports, policy documents, and briefs for the Economics group.
* Data Analysis: Undertake the collection and analysis of economic and financial data to assist in pricing and access functions.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

* Economic and Financial Analysis: Apply discipline specific (eg, economic and finance concepts) knowledge and techniques.
* Research and Communication: Assist in preparing written economic reports, policy documents, and briefs for the Economics group.
* Data Analysis: Undertake the collection and analysis of economic and financial data to assist in pricing and access functions.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

* Analytical Inquisitiveness: An inquisitive mind and nature and a willingness to learn new concepts and adapt acquired knowledge.
* Effective Communication: The ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing, in a clear and logical manner.
* Research and Analysis Experience: Demonstrated ability to conduct financial or economic research, perform in-depth analysis, and produce reports.
* Educational Background: Qualifications in economics or a related discipline are essential for this position.
* Values-Driven Approach: A genuine commitment to the Commission's core values: accountability, collaboration, agility, respect, and integrity.

About The Commission

The Commission is a statutory authority established as an independent economic regulator and advisory body to protect the long-term interests of South Australian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services. We add long-term value to the South Australian community by meeting our objective through independent, ethical and expert regulatory decisions and the provision of robust advice to Government. Our role incorporates licensing, consumer protection, service standards, pricing, monitoring, compliance and public reporting in the water, electricity and gas industries, and access regulation of essential ports and rail infrastructure. We also provide advice and conduct Inquiries to inform the South Australian Government on economic and regulatory policy issues and provide advice to local government.
