About the Role
FMS Group is seeking an experienced and safety‐focused Major Shutdowns Structural Supervisor to join our shutdown division across the Bowen Basin, QLD. You will be working across a variety of mine sites on a 4/4/4 roster.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate structural shutdown crews across multiple mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin.
* Lead structural maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and project works on draglines, shovels, stackers, reclaimers, conveyors, CHPP infrastructure, and fixed plant assets.
* Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with site, client, and company procedures.
* Coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to achieve shutdown objectives.
* Monitor productivity, quality, and compliance to ensure project milestones and client expectations are met.
* Conduct pre‐starts, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety inspections throughout shutdown activities.
* Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical support to boilermakers, welders, riggers, trade assistants, and shutdown personnel.
What You'll Bring
* Trade qualification in Boilermaking, Metal Fabrication, Engineering Fabrication, or a related structural discipline.
* Current S123 and G2 competencies.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory role within mining shutdowns, maintenance, or construction projects.
* Proven experience in structural maintenance and repairs on draglines, shovels, CHPPs, conveyors, and fixed plant assets.
* Strong knowledge of structural steel installation, repairs, welding standards, rigging activities, and heavy industry maintenance practices.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work scopes, and shutdown schedules.
* Strong commitment to workplace safety, leadership, and teamwork.
* Excellent communication, planning, and problem‐solving skills.
* Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 certification.
* Current driver's licence.
