Primary objective
As a member of Top End Regional Services, you will coordinate and implement coaching, professional development, and curriculum delivery
to small remote schools across The Top End Region to improve the practice and delivery of literacy for teachers within these schools.
Context statement
The Top End Regional Services provides a range of services to strategically support remote small schools to maximise outcomes for
students in a culturally responsive way. This includes services and support for quality teaching and learning, secondary provision, early
childhood quality and integration, and policy coordination.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide differentiated support to schools with the implementation of a Literacy Approach based on the Science of Reading within the
school curriculum including teaching, learning and assessment.
2. Work with educators to develop literacy specific curriculum and materials to implement a rigorous literacy program across all schools.
3. Build the capacity of schools' staff to Interpret and respond to data to improve student Literacy learning outcomes.
4. Ensure effective professional learning in Literacy and EALD practices for educators and leaders.
5. Develop and maintain comprehensive and effective professional networks and collaborative partnerships in order to achieve
outcomes in remote and very remote school locations.
6. Model best practice in Literacy and EALD pedagogy and the ability to build on and share practice across schools.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to build the capacity of self, others and high performing teams through high level coaching and/or mentoring around
literacy curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and the use of student data to inform teaching and learning.
2. Demonstrated capacity to model best practice teaching and learning within a remote school context.
3. Demonstrated experience in coordinating and leading initiatives and/or projects in remote and very remote schools, with a focus on
sustained continuous improvement and evidenced capacity building of educators.
4. High level interpersonal skills, including proven ability to collaborate and communicate with influence, build and maintain effective
networks with a range of stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations, while developing and maintaining effective interpersonal and
cross-cultural relationships within and beyond all remote small schools.
Desirable
1. Science of Reading knowledge and experience
2. Remote Teaching experience
3. EALD knowledge and teaching experience

Registration or capacity to be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and holder of a Working with
Children Clearance Notice. The successful applicant will need to provide these requirements prior to commencement.
Office-based conditions apply to this position. Travel is required on small aircraft and 4WD travel.
