The school is seeking an experienced and values‐aligned Accountant to join the Finance team, offering exposure to the diverse and complex financial operations of a K–12 education environment. This role provides hands‐on involvement across financial accounting, payroll support, reporting, compliance, budgeting and asset management—work that is both professionally challenging and purpose‐driven. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant is responsible for accurate financial processing, reporting and compliance across the College. The role ensures accounting records are complete, timely and compliant with legislative and regulatory requirements, and provides high‐quality financial information to support school leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate accounting records, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
* Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions in line with College policies
* Support month‐end and year‐end close processes
* Prepare routine financial reports, including income and expenditure reports, balance sheets, cash flow reports and variance analysis
* Support payroll processing and reconciliation, including PAYG, superannuation, leave provisions and award / enterprise agreement compliance
* Assist with BAS, taxation obligations and statutory reporting
* Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring appropriate documentation and audit trails
* Maintain asset registers and depreciation schedules, including capital purchases, disposals and insurance claims
* Support budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling as required
* Identify and escalate accounting issues, discrepancies or risks requiring management attention
* Perform other duties within the scope of the role as required

Qualifications
* Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business
* Strong experience with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
* High level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card)
* Candidate who can provide a pastoral reference will be highly regarded
