About the Team
The Occupational Therapy Service includes over 90 team members, including occupational therapists, assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenters, and administration officers. We work across acute, sub-acute, and community settings, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching hospital in Tasmania. We pride ourselves on a positive team culture and continually learn and grow to deliver high-quality, person-centred, occupational-focused services.
Role Overview
As Deputy Manager – Occupational Therapy (Acute), you play a key leadership role in shaping service delivery and supporting staff development. This position is responsible for the management and development of over 30 staff within the Acute Team across Medical, Cancer, Surgical, and Women's & Children's Services. Your leadership is essential for maintaining excellence in patient outcomes and aligning services with the Department's CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence). You will work closely with the Occupational Therapy leadership team and multi-disciplinary leads to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services and represent occupational therapy in the wider health care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage over 30 staff within the Occupational Therapy Acute Team.
Shape service delivery and support continuous staff development.
Align activities with the Department's CARE values and ensure evidence-based practice.
Represent the service to multidisciplinary teams and the wider health care setting.
Required Skills and Experience
Extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in Acute Services.
Proven ability to lead, engage others, and drive change.
Passion for staff well-being and development.
Eligibility
Tertiary qualification or program of study approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Post-graduate studies in occupational therapy, public health, health services leadership, or related area are desirable.
Salary and Benefits
Salary:
$135,002 – $138,296 per annum pro rata, with an additional 12% superannuation contribution. Salary aligns with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of ****.

Employment Details
Permanent, full-time, day worker position, 38 hours per fortnight (hours negotiable). The selection process may be used for subsequent vacancies within 12 months of publication.
