Scholarship Details
The scholarship covers a stipend and a project expense package. The maximum tenure period of the award is 4 years.
Eligibility Criteria
* Candidates must have completed an Honours Degree with First Class or equivalent, or a Master's degree with a significant research component.
* Applicants must not be receiving equivalent support providing a benefit greater than 75% of the student's stipend rate.
* Candidates must be Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, or New Zealand citizens.
* They must meet participating university PhD admission requirements and English language requirements.
* Previous completion of a PhD is not allowed.
* Candidates must be able to commence the program in the year of offer and enrol as full-time PhD students.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Candidates should have a background in agriculture, meteorology, hydrology, or environmental science.
* Proficiency in statistical analysis and data processing is essential.
* Strong programming skills in R and/or Python are required, along with experience or interest in weather prediction or climate models.
* Knowledge of machine learning, AI techniques, and cloud computing for data processing and model deployment is necessary.
* Familiarity with crop models (APSIM, DSSAT, AquaCrop) and agricultural practices is advantageous.
