* Location: Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network – Whyalla / Port Augusta
* Designation: AHP1/2 Podiatrist – Full/Part Time – Ongoing / Temporary
* Base Salary: $71,217 – $106,330 p.a

About the Service

Allied and Community Health Service : Multi‑disciplinary teams working across Port Augusta and Whyalla, with outreach clinics in Roxby Downs, Quorn, Hawker, Maree and Leigh Creek. Services include centre-based, in‑home and community-based care for people of all ages.

Orthotic and Prosthetics (O&P) : Provides personalized support for custom braces or artificial limbs. The only O&P service outside the metropolitan area, offering services in Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Port Pirie. Supports NDIS clients and partners with podiatrists for high-risk feet.

Support and Training

* Supervision – as per the Regional LHN Allied Health Supervision Framework.
* Access to professional development funding.
* Transition to Professional Practice Program for AHPs (AHP1).
* Scholarships for a Certificate of Rural General Practice / Graduate Diploma via the Allied Health Rural Generalist Pathway.
* Contextual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training and access to Aboriginal Liaison Officers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners.
* Links with Rural Support Service (RSS) for professional support and clinical governance.


About the Role

As a AHP1Podiatrist, you will work under the guidance of an experienced podiatrist, delivering preventative, early intervention and therapeutic podiatry services. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to address community health needs, building clinical expertise.

As a AHP2 Podiatrist, you will apply your clinical experience to independently plan, deliver and evaluate comprehensive podiatry services. Working with reduced supervision, you may also supervise and support junior podiatrists, allied health assistants and students. Your work will span prevention, intervention and rehabilitation to achieve optimal outcomes for individuals and the broader community.


Qualifications – About You

* Must hold a recognised qualification within a relevant Allied Health profession and be eligible for practising membership of the relevant Professional Association.


Responsibilities – AHP1

* Provide a broad range of clinical services, adopting and applying established methods, procedures and standards.
* Exercise professional judgment within prescribed areas, with support from a Clinical Senior to verify methods and results.
* Deliver straightforward clinical services, including one‑on‑one, group and health promotion activities.
* Manage and prioritise personal workload.


Responsibilities – AHP2

* Apply professional expertise, develop generalist/specialist knowledge, and provide services requiring increasingly complex practice skills.
* Exercise professional judgment in selecting and adapting established methods, procedures and techniques.
* Provide a broad range of clinical and consultative services across various settings, including one‑on‑one, group and health promotion activities.
* Manage and prioritise personal workload and support others in workload management, including team resource allocation.


Immunisation Risk

Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances).

* Appointment subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and immunisation compliance as indicated in the role description.
* SA Health Services must implement the Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
