Our collaborator is a quality accredited translation agency based in Girona, Spain. They specialize in the translation of technical, scientific, and business documentation. Their clients include multinational companies operating in sectors such as Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Marketing, Chemicals, and Manufacturing.
They offer internship opportunities for undergraduates studying translation who wish to gain experience working in a translation agency. Interns will receive comprehensive training and acquire valuable business and project management skills, providing insight into professional translation practices. This training offers professional development and the chance to experience living and working in Europe.
This trainee role provides an opportunity to work alongside their Vendor Manager and gain experience in procurement and project management. The position includes full training and involves working within an international team.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual capable of assisting with the coordination of complex multilingual projects, liaising with freelance translators, and working with software systems.
Tasks
* Collaborate with the Project Management and Commercial departments on procurement needs and resource availability.
* Research industry-standard pricing to inform recommendations on pricing and resource capacity.
* Coordinate with the Quality Assurance department to develop and document process improvements related to procurement and customer complaints.
* Assist the Vendor Manager in recruiting, vetting, testing, and evaluating new external resources.
* Maintain data integrity in the vendor database.
* Develop innovative methods to find new vendors and ensure full utilization of vetted resources.
Requirements
* High numeracy skills.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Problem-solving abilities.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Spanish language or translation skills are not mandatory.
* Immediate availability is preferred, as the project started in August 2019.
* The student will have an official work contract with McFelder during the placement.
* Students typically receive an ERASMUS grant and a salary of €430 (minus 2% Spanish tax, as required by law).
Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:00-14:00, 15:00-18:00; Friday: 9:00-14:30.
Placement period: During 2019-2020, for a minimum of 6 months.
