About the Business Unit Located in Maldon, Tarrengower Prison is a Minimum Security Prison for women. With a focus on rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and the provision of programs. Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for the management and delivery of education and training in Victorian prisons. The aim is to encourage the benefits and enjoyment of learning to the women while increasing their employment prospects and access to other socio-economic opportunities, once they leave the prison system. About the Role The Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the provision of educational services to women, within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility including Community Education, VET, on-the-job training and distance education. The role has a focus on the day-to-day operations including timetabling of all education provided on and off-site, record keeping, administration, identifying local training opportunities and coordination with the local TAFE and other external education providers. Understanding issues affecting the participation of people in custody in education and training is a core part of the role, and the Education Coordinator will provide leadership in addressing such issues. Some of your duties will include: Negotiate with and manage education providers to deliver services in accordance with contractual obligations and resolve service delivery issues where required. Develop, implement, and manage local prison processes to maximise opportunities for people in custody to participate in VET, and identify and introduce process improvements where required. Coordinate education across the site and the local community including timetabling of classes, transport, permits, training rooms and technology for streaming from other sites' education delivery. Coordinate and support the operational relationship between local education providers, including Learn Locals and TAFE, and prison program areas, prison education areas, prison industries and other key stakeholders (such as Offender Management and Sentence Management staff). Monitor the implementation of learning plans and ensure learning pathways are managed. Establish and coordinate local performance reporting processes, including analysing data and preparing reports and briefings to relevant prison and CV senior staff on the delivery of education and training where required.
