Hydra Search are currently looking for a confident and experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in Mining and/or Power Generation. You will be responsible for working across various stages of electrical engineering studies, design, project execution, testing and commissioning with the support of intermediate and junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to all phases of project execution including feasibility studies, electrical design, construction, testing, and commissioning.
* Provide audit and advisory services focused on electrical standards and infrastructure compliance.
* Support the management of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) across sites and personnel.
* Assist in the continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
* Review and approve high-voltage (HV) system reports, including power system modelling (e.g., DigSILENT or ETAP), protection coordination, earthing studies, and arc flash assessments.
* Prepare and manage testing and commissioning documentation, including relay configuration, test plans, and detailed technical reports with recommendations.
* Lead the delivery of high-quality technical design, audits, and advisory services relating to electrical project standards and infrastructure.
* Conduct regular site visits and maintain involvement throughout all project phases, from construction to commissioning.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
* Proven expertise in electrical design (LV/HV) and consultancy for projects in the resources, energy, or related sectors.
* Hands‐on experience with HV switchgear commissioning.
* Proficiency in power systems modelling and analysis.
* Solid knowledge of Australian electrical standards.
* Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or actively working towards CPEng/RPEQ certification is preferred.
* Experience with commercial contracts and project delivery is advantageous.
