Clinical Midwife – Lactation Consultant
Join the Mount Isa Hospital Maternity Service as a Clinical Midwife – Lactation Consultant, where you'll provide specialist, evidence‐based infant feeding support while leading clinical practice, education and quality improvement across a busy regional maternity service. This is a pivotal role supporting women, families and clinicians across the continuum of care.
About the Role
Play a key leadership role within the Mount Isa Hospital Midwifery Service, delivering specialised lactation and infant feeding care to women and their families across inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings. Working autonomously and collaboratively, you'll promote best practice, support complex feeding needs, and contribute to achieving Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accreditation, while mentoring and guiding the broader maternity team.
* Provide expert lactation and infant feeding support, using evidence‐based practice to care for women and babies with both routine and complex needs across the maternity continuum.
* Lead and influence clinical practice, offering advanced clinical decision‐making, mentorship and support to midwives, nurses and students within the service.
* Drive quality, education and improvement initiatives, including BFHI standards, clinical audits, data collection and service development activities.

Requirements
* Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
* Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
* C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Pre‐employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
* VPD risk role; may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
* A period of probation may apply.
