Love helping people and leading a team when it matters most? Join Mackay Regional Libraries as an After Hours Supervisor in a permanent part time role (18.25 hours per week) based at Dudley Denny Library. You'll take the lead during our after‐hours service—supporting staff, keeping things running smoothly and ensuring every visitor experiences a safe, welcoming and high‐quality library service. Availability to work Thursday to Sunday as part of an any 5 out of 7 roster is required.

About this opportunity

* Be based at Mackay Regional Libraries – Dudley Denny Library, supporting your community after hours.
* Provide confident after‐hours operational supervision to deliver a safe, responsive and professional service.
* Lead, coach and support the team on shift so customer service is consistent and service standards are met every time.
* Handle escalations and resolve customer issues with sound judgement—staying calm and solutions‐focused under pressure.
* Coordinate workflow, allocate tasks and keep the shift on track to deliver timely, high‐quality outcomes.
* Keep accurate records and reports, ensuring procedures and relevant policies are followed.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen after‐hours service delivery and support the wider library team.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

* Proven experience leading and supporting a team in a customer‐focused environment (library experience is desirable).
* Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage escalations and deliver practical outcomes.
* A confident communicator who stays calm, professional and solutions‐focused in after‐hours situations.
* A community‐first mindset and commitment to delivering responsive service that reflects Council values.
* Strong planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
* PAID QLD Working with Children Blue Card – It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy.
