About the Role
The Technical Officer – Dive will provide high-level support to an ongoing project perceived as a threat to the Great Barrier Reef.
You will work closely with the Project Manager, assisting in daily operations within the dive team and be based on the COTS (Crown of Thorns Starfish) Culling project.
Your roster will consist of 10 days on vessel + 2 days shore work, 3 days off.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure scientific tasks are implemented and completed safely.
* Present dive data clearly and concisely as required.
* Lead trips/voyages when the Project Manager is absent.
* Perform diving duties.
* Conduct regular quality control of diving and crew responsibilities.
* Complete plans for achieving targets through diving hours, days at sea, and activity days.
Requirements:
* Degree in Marine Biology or Marine Science.
* Dive Master qualification.
* Recreational boat license.
* First Aid, Advanced Resus, and CPR certifications.
* Knowledge of similar day-to-day activities required for scientific diving such as COTS culling.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Well-developed planning and organisational skills.
* High level of communication skills.
