We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Designer to lead the planning and coordination of building design and documentation for capital and operational projects within a local council team. What You'll Be Doing:
Lead Design Coordination
* Plan and oversee the design and documentation of capital and operational building projects.
* Develop clear project scopes, risk assessments, budgets and timelines.
* Ensure compliance with regulations, standards and City frameworks.
Be the Technical Authority
* Provide expert advice on building design, engineering, compliance and sustainability.
* Translate complex technical issues into practical, understandable solutions.
* Support project delivery teams through to construction completion.
Manage Consultants & Drive Outcomes
* Procure and manage architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
* Review design documentation to ensure quality, compliance and alignment with City objectives.
* Prepare reports and briefing notes for Executive Leadership and Council.
About You:
You are a confident and experienced building professional who thrives in a collaborative environment.
You bring:
* A qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management or similar.
* Extensive experience in building design and construction.
* Strong consultant management and procurement experience.
* The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable:
* Sustainability or universal design expertise.
* Experience with heritage or conservation works.
* Government sector experience.
