Overview The Ipswich Basketball Association is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to oversee the operations and development of basketball in the Ipswich region.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the organisation's vision, financial management, stakeholder relationships, and the delivery of high
- quality basketball programs and events.
This is a full-time Operational role based in Ipswich, Queensland. What you'll be doing Providing strategic leadership and direction for the Ipswich Basketball Association to achieve its organisational goals Overseeing the financial management of the organisation, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting Managing and developing a team of staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional basketball programs, events, and services Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Basketball Queensland, local councils, and community partners Identifying and pursuing recent funding and sponsorship opportunities to support the growth and sustainability of the organisation Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures Promoting the Ipswich Basketball Association and its activities within the local community Oversee and manage the IBA finances Provide management reports to the IBA Management Committee in relation to the finances, risk management and operational aspects of the association Manage, maintain and grow opportunities for the current facility and connect with external facilities Manage and grow sponsorship along with community partnerships Coordination and delivery of the IBA representative programs (both junior and senior including NBL1)Coordination and delivery of the recruitment and development of officials and coaches Management of staff Manage all complaints Develop and monitor the annual budget What we're looking for Significant experience in a similar leadership role within the sport and recreation industry, with at least three years’ experience in a similar role Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and operational management with the ability to meet deadlines Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain solid partnerships Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills, including the ability to be client focused and able to communicate and negotiate with a broad range of people at all levels Demonstrated experience in securing funding and sponsorship for community-based organisations Strong understanding of the sporting industry and the ability to develop and implement programs that engage the local community Proven team management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team and put strategies in place to achieve the organisation’s vision Relevant tertiary qualifications in sports management, business administration, or a related field Well-groomed and professional in appearance Proven skills and knowledge in Microsoft products (in particular
