About the opportunity
The Facilities Technical Officer South – Plumber is a member of the Facilities Management Unit (FMU) within Infrastructure Services and Development (ISD). The FMU supports the University campus experience objectives through overseeing the planning, scheduling and delivery of maintenance services (preventative and corrective), infrastructure upgrades, statutory risk and compliance planning and the management of the University's grounds engineering services, water and sewerage. The role ensures WHS compliance is achieved and maintained.
Full‐time, based in Hobart.
What you'll do
* Drive the planning, scheduling and delivery of maintenance services.
* Lead preventative and corrective maintenance as well as infrastructure upgrades.
* Perform work request management, including system input and allocation of work requests, review of maintenance service records, prioritisation of repairs, stakeholder engagement, time management and quality assurance.
* Maintain thermostatic mixing valves and backflow prevention devices across university buildings.
* Review plans and undertake trade‐specific and other maintenance repairs from corrective, preventative & statutory maintenance records.
* Respond to and remedy reported hazards to reduce risk to staff, students and visitors.
* Manage Work Health and Safety, conduct work‐site inspections and audits, update Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and undertake Take‐5 safety checklists for areas of responsibility.
* Undertake minor project works, including reviewing trade‐specific scopes of work to ensure value for money and meeting all UTAS WHS requirements.
What we're looking for
* High‐level organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and problem‐solving skills. Physical ability to carry out numerous manual‐handling tasks.
* Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
* A trade qualification in a relevant area with extensive related experience, or extensive experience and specialist expertise, or an equivalent combination of applicable experience and/or education/training.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116,872 comprising a base salary within the range of $92,120 to $99,891 plus 17% superannuation.
