About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer to join our Underground Assets Engineering team within the Asset and Operations division. This position can be based anywhere within our Essential Energy’s footprint in NSW.
As the Principal Engineer Underground, you will be responsible for ensuring Essential Energy’s underground network assets are installed, maintained and operated in line with highest industry standards to maintain a safe and reliable network. To successfully accomplish this you will be required to perform detailed analysis and technical evaluations across a range of engineering functions, including the identification, research and development of new criteria, products and applications of knowledge and procedures across the Energy Network.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be responsible for the provision of specialised underground asset related engineering services in the development, design and Implementation of key strategic engineering projects for the Energy network
2. Ensure Essential Energy’s underground asset construction standards, network design requirements and approved materials for use on the network, are kept up to date and in line with industry standards.
3. Identify, establish and foster key business, regulatory body, stakeholder and customer relationships ensuring all Energy Network projects and process issues are addressed to meet agreed outcomes giving Essential Energy a competitive edge
4. Research, Identify, develop and implement business unit opportunities which align with business strategies that promotes Energy Network service delivery
About You
5. Specialised technical knowledge and experience required to undertake the role of a Principal Engineer in relation to underground assets including cables, kiosk distribution transformers, switchgear, pits pillars and accessories from low voltage reticulation through to high voltage transmission assets in an Energy Network environment
6. Experience in the application of knowledge to problem solve highly technical engineering issues in both planned an unplanned Energy Network projects
7. Experience in the application of Workplace Occupational Health and Safety practices, policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance in all Energy Network projects and issue requirements
8. Experience in the application of Environmental and sustainable energy management policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with Energy Network projects and issue requirements
Required Qualifications
9. Degree of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent to satisfy graduate membership to Engineers Australia.
10. Drivers licence
11. WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Cert
Desirable
12. Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation access
13. Post graduate qualifications in engineering
14. Degree of Business Administration
15. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPENG) qualification
16. Experience with CIGRE or other comparable industry knowledge community
