The opportunity
We are seeking a Strategic Rail Operations Modeller to work with Mott MacDonald's Victorian based, National and Global teams to support programs and projects at the early stages of inception, assisting clients to make far reaching decisions on the scope, business outcomes, and feasibility of emerging infrastructure.
As our Strategic Rail Operations Modeller you will be responsible for supporting our wider Strategic Rail Operations Planning team, project teams and our clients to help them deliver outstanding infrastructure.
With experience in this field you will be actively involved in strategic roles on our most significant projects and programmes across multiple sectors, delivering work for you and your team.
This role will see you join a diverse team of consultants who are passionate about what they do, with a proven track record guiding our clients, and leading delivery of our State and Country's most critical projects. Specifically, you will play a role in supporting:
- Modelling of Rail infrastructure, timetables, and carrying out performance modelling using RailSys as a primary tool
- Assist in developing and documenting rail operations strategies and plans that support high profile, State-significant projects that will deliver material improvements to passenger experience on a daily basis
- Support city-building projects during project planning and development
- Influence the shape and direction of the future rail network to ensure it meets the needs of all users going forward
- Contribute to strategic and final business cases to meet the needs of stakeholders, draw on relevant guidelines, and generate innovation to support investment decisions..
- Participate in project teams that build the momentum of significant social and transport infrastructure projects through evidence-based advice, your own unique experience, and connecting local and global thinking from across Mott MacDonald.
- What you'll bring to the team
- You will be a Consultant with 5 to 10 years' experience in working in multi-discipline teams across Transport projects, specifically within rail operators or similar.
- You will have first-hand experience in using RailSys, with at least 2 years experience and capable of
- simulating network operations and provide recommendations for future network changes
- Model various infrastructure, signalling and rolling stock options and upgrades and test the performance impacts and capacity benefits
- On-going valuation and calibration of RailSys models, both statically and dynamically.
- Support project teams to provide critical rail operations input into concept and reference designs
- Assist in the development of network operations plans and concepts of operations
Your experience working in high-performing teams coupled with advanced communication skills will assist you in succeeding.
