About the role
DFAT is seeking experienced Complex Procurement Officers to support procurement and contract management activities within the Diplomatic Security Division.
The role is responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring compliance with Commonwealth legislation and policies, managing supplier relationships, and providing high-quality advice to internal stakeholders.
This is a contract opportunity working in a secure federal government environment.
Key responsibilities
* Manage complex procurements across the full lifecycle
* Prepare tender documentation and administer AusTender processes
* Conduct evaluations, negotiations and contract awards
* Provide procurement and contract management advice to stakeholders
* Manage contract performance, variations, extensions and close-out
* Undertake procurement reporting and risk management
* Maintain compliance with PGPA Act, CPRs and internal policies
* Support continuous improvement of procurement outcomes
Essential requirements
* Strong knowledge of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and CPRs
* Minimum 4-5+ years experience delivering complex government procurements (APS6/EL1 level)
* Contract management experience using Commonwealth Contracting Suite (CCS)
* Ability to analyse markets and suppliers to inform procurement strategy
* Relevant procurement or contract management qualifications
Desirable
* Experience using SAP
* Federal government or security-focused environment experience
Security requirement
* Must hold or be eligible for Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
* Australian Citizenship required

* 12-month contract (with possible 12-month extension)
* Full-time hours per week
* Canberra-based role (flexible arrangements assessed case-by-case)
