Facilities Assistant (Claim to Pay)
Various locations within City of Edinburgh (South West).
Salary: £26,000 - £27,000 (pro‐rata for part‐time).Hours: 0 hour contract.
Overview
As a Facilities Assistant with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering vital janitorial services across the estate to ensure properties are safe places to work or learn in. You will enjoy secure and flexible employment with above‐market rates and excellent conditions, whilst being able to balance family, caring or studying commitments.
Responsibilities
You will carry out day‐to‐day janitorial and DIY operations across one or more buildings, ranging from small repairs and general maintenance to reactive cleaning, supporting moves and conducting basic security functions.
Provide an efficient and effective facilities technician service in accordance with the Service Level Agreement, CEC policy and prevailing general standards.

* Caretaking role on a mobile basis across a number of buildings, including equipment and furniture fitting maintenance
* Building maintenance and services
* Security of premises and grounds
* Grounds maintenance
* Cleaning/Tidying
Job Activities
* Undertake minor maintenance and repairs to equipment in accordance with good practice and procedures
* General porterage duties, including moving furniture for the setting up of rooms and halls for events, performances, exams, meetings
These duties are not exhaustive and the post-holder will undertake any other duties reasonably pertaining to the post.
Qualifications and Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both checks being deemed satisfactory.
