Salary package: $85,434 - $93,200 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Terms: Full-time, Continuing x 1 position, and Full time, Fixed term (until May 2026) x 1 position

Position Description and Selection Criteria:

The Position

The Research Services Officer plays a key role in supporting and promoting research activities through the delivery of high-quality research administration services. This position provides accurate and timely advice to stakeholders on a wide range of research management matters, including grant applications, post-award processes, and research data administration. Working closely with the Research Services team, the officer assists in preparing research proposals, conducting compliance checks, managing budgets, and coordinating peer review processes. The role also involves maintaining research management systems and websites, supporting internal funding processes, and ensuring all documentation complies with relevant ANU and external policies and guidelines. Strong administrative, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. This position is integral to the smooth and efficient operation of the Research Services team and contributes to the University’s broader research strategy.

The Person

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree or possess an equivalent combination of experience and training in administrative support within a complex organisation, with a genuine interest in research management. They will demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. Clear and confident communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential, along with the ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities independently or as part of a collaborative team. A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively will be key strengths. Experience in research administration or a related university environment will be highly regarded.
