About the Brisbane Bullets
The Brisbane Bullets are a professional basketball club competing in the National Basketball League (NBL). Based in the heart of Brisbane, the Bullets are Brisbane's oldest professional sporting club, with a proud history dating back to 1979.
The Club is entering an exciting period of growth and is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to play a key role in supporting its commercial and operational success.
What You'll Be Doing
As a
Financial Controller
you will be working hand-in-hand with the CEO, you'll oversee all financial operations while providing the clear, practical insights that drive smart, sustainable growth.
Financial Reporting & Strategic Planning
* Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports that tell the story behind the numbers
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to support the Club's ambitious goals
* Provide financial insight to support decision-making across the business
Day-to-Day Financial Operations
* Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations
* Manage payroll compliance including PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax
* Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and reporting standards are maintained across the Club
Year-End & Compliance
* Coordinate year-end processes and work seamlessly with external auditors and advisors
* Maintain robust financial controls and ensure all reporting meets required standards
Special Projects & Collaboration
* Support ad hoc projects and operational initiatives across the Club—no two days are the same
* Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance
* CA or CPA qualification
* 3–5 years' experience in a similar finance role with progressive responsibility
* Strong technical accounting and reporting skills
* High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
* Confidence partnering with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders
* Experience using Xero accounting software
* Strong Excel capability
