A well-established private investment group is seeking an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to lead its finance function.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a broad role combining financial oversight, team leadership, and genuine involvement in business decisions. You'll be part of a close-knit team where collaboration, sound judgement, and consistency are valued.
The group has a diverse investment portfolio, including commercial property and related investments. The role oversees the financial management of four underlying businesses, offering strong variety and exposure across different operating entities.
The Role
You will take ownership of the finance function across a multi-entity environment, supporting a diverse investment portfolio across property and related sectors.
This role suits someone who stays close to the detail, takes pride in accuracy, and contributes commercially when it matters. You will also be involved in investment discussions and committees, providing financial insight to support decision‐making.
Responsibilities include:
* Lead and support a team of five (management accountant, payroll, AR/AP, administration)
* Monthly reporting, analysis, and insights for the CEO
* End‐of‐month and year‐end processes
* Cashflow management, budgeting, and forecasting
* BAS, GST, and statutory compliance
* Liaison with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
* Oversight of financial controls, systems, and processes
* Provide clear, practical financial input to support business decisions
* Contribute to investment discussions and portfolio performance tracking
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking a highly capable, commercially astute finance leader who brings:
* CPA/CA qualifications (or equivalent).
* Proven track record in senior finance roles
* Comfortable operating in a small team environment with shared responsibility
* Strong technical grounding across compliance and reporting
* Commercially aware, with a measured and practical approach
* A steady, team‐oriented style
* Experience in investment, property, or multi‐entity structures will be viewed favourably.
