Overview
Phlebotomy Collections Team Leader is responsible for ensuring a timely, integrated, and customer-focused specimen collection service. This role provides leadership in the day-to-day operations of the Western Health Collections sector, including Pathology Collection, Reception, Data Entry, and Couriers. It ensures high standards of service delivery across multiple sites through effective leadership, staff development, training, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include operational and administrative oversight, monitoring performance, reviewing and refining work roles, and investigating and addressing errors or complaints to maintain quality, efficiency, and compliance within Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Services and Western Health laboratories and collection centres.
About Our Team
The Alfred Pathology Service (APS) is key to providing integrated and timely diagnostic capabilities as part of the largest public pathology laboratory network in Victoria. Alfred Health supports the local community while addressing complex state-wide needs, including trauma, organ transplantation and HIV/AIDS diagnostics. APS conducts all pathology testing for multiple hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of services through five specialized units: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Human Molecular Pathology. APS is committed to education and professional development, providing excellent learning opportunities for students and clinicians. The service also collaborates with various research institutions. Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership and are delivering pathology services at Western Health, including collection centres, branch laboratories at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital and point-of-care services. We are working in partnership to ensure we meet future demands and continue to provide high quality pathology services for our patients and the community across both health services.
Position Summary

It ensures high standards of service delivery across multiple sites through effective leadership, staff development, training, and continuous improvement. About You
Qualifications Required :
* Certificate III or IV in Pathology Collections
* Certified CPR (desirable)
Experience And Skills Required :
* At least 6 years' experience in a similar supervisory and leadership role
* Basic First Aid skills
* Current hands-on skills in specimen collection in outpatient and inpatient settings
* Demonstrated experience in staff training and competency assessments
* Demonstrated people management skills
* Valid full driver's licence
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
* Previous experience with the iPM, Cerner PathNet Millennium system (desirable)
* Experience managing teams across multiple sites (desirable)
