We're Hiring: Rope Access Technician level 2/3

Rutledge Drilling is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient IRATA Level 2/3 Rope Access Technician to join our senior geotechnical team operating across northern NSW and southeast QLD. This position requires extensive geotechnical field experience, strong QA capability, and advanced drilling competence.
This role is suited to someone with significant hands-on experience in DTH, Top Hammer, meshing, and shotcreting support work, along with high-level QA testing knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform rope-based access for drilling, meshing, rockfall mitigation, and slope stabilisation
* Support drill rig setup, grouting, shotcrete, and anchoring operations
* Participate in daily pre-starts, toolbox talks, and adhere to all site safety procedures
* Assist with equipment checks, safety inspections, and basic rig maintenance
* Follow detailed work instructions, including QA documentation, hazard IDs, and SWMS compliance
* Support emergency response and rope rescue procedures as trained
* Work effectively in a team under the supervision of Leading Hands or Supervisors
* Uphold site safety and environmental controls in line with Rutledge Drilling standards
Technical Experience:
* Proven experience with geotechnical drilling systems, including both DTH and Top Hammer operations
* Extensive experience on geotechnical slope stabilisation projects
* Demonstrated capability in:
* Meshing installation
* Shotcreting support tasks (offsider duties)
* Anchor suitability and acceptance testing
* Bleed and flow testing
* Mud balance testing
* Cube sampling and grout QA control
* Strong understanding of MRTS/TMR/TfNSW project QA frameworks
* Demonstrated competency with ground support systems including anchors, barriers, and stabilisation structures
* Strong mechanical aptitude for rig checks and troubleshooting
Minimum Requirements:
* Current IRATA Level 2 or Level 3, with substantial geotechnical field experience
* Minimum 5 years rope access or geotechnical work experience
* White Card
* Working at Heights (within 2 years)
* First Aid & CPR (current)
* Open manual driver's licence
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol test
* Proven ability to work safely and independently in remote, steep, high-risk environments
