An immediate opportunity exists, within our Mining and Metals business unit to be part of the exciting Kalgoorlie Smelter Renewal (KSR) project in Perth, WA. The Project to undertake the brownfields upgrades to its existing Kalgoorlie Smelter facility. The proposed Project is planned to be delivered using an E+PCM model where the Engineering Partner will complete the engineering and design deliverables and the PCM partner will undertake procurement and construction management activities as agent for and on behalf of the Project.
The Home Office team will be based in the Perth, WA, supported by some of the engineering team in Brisbane, QLD. The Field Office team will be located at the job site with camp accommodation provided and a FIFO work roster.
**SUMMARY**:
Directs the function of Expediting for all projects within a global business unit. Ensures that Corporate Procurement, global business unit management and Procurement policies, project procurement procedures, guidelines, and Supply Chain IWPP are followed. Works closely with the Project Expediting team to ensure projects are started properly and are correctly maintained to completion.
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES**:
- Manages the global business unit Expediting function to ensure expediting activities are planned, staffed and implemented in a timely and efficient manner. Analyzes the effectiveness and economy of established expediting systems and techniques for possible improvement.
- Provides guidance and direction in identifying and resolving manufacturing and delivery problems with suppliers. Negotiates with supplier management to identify and resolve problems in supplier operations that affect their ability to meet scheduled delivery dates. Reports supplier performance on expediting matters to the global business unit Manager of Procurement, the project Procurement Manager and Corporate Manager of Procurement Functions, Expediting.
- Assigns project Expediting personnel as needed to meet project requirements. Monitors current and projected workload to ensure proper buildup and reduction of staffing to satisfy anticipated requirements.
- Participates with the project Procurement Manager in project employee utilization by preparing expediting forecasts based on projected scope and schedule of the project.
- Reviews and approves timecards and travel expense reports for expediting personnel as required.
- Participates in the annual salary planning activities covering Expediting personnel, for review and approval of the global business unit Manager of Procurement. Reviews annual performance evaluations to ensure consistency by Expediting Supervisors. Ensures that career discussions are performed when required. Evaluates skills and proficiency of Expediting personnel. Directs necessary training programs to maintain proper personnel qualifications.
- Through contacts with suppliers, maintains awareness of current material availability and advises Procurement Management accordingly.
- Participates with the global business unit Manager of Procurement in personnel planning by preparing expediting forecasts based on projected scope and schedule of projects. Recruits, interviews and recommends/selects new personnel to meet the needs of the business unit.
- Directs the performance of global business unit Expediting department activities within approved budgets.
- Recommends supplier warnings and advisories for approval and issue by the global business unit or Corporate Procurement informing company-wide Procurement personnel about supplier(s) performance that has adversely affected Bechtel projects.
- Ensures that the global business unit projects have current and updated Supplier Performance Database (SPD) and Digital Supply Chain System (DSCS) databases.
