Our ecology team is growing, and ERM is recruiting for a Principal or Senior Zoologist/Ecologist to join our high-performing national team. This is an excellent opportunity based in our Perth office to lead zoological/ecological assessments supporting large-scale projects across mining, oil and gas, renewables, and infrastructure sectors.
As a Senior/Principal Zoologist/Ecologist, you will contribute leadership, client relationship, and technical consulting skills to project delivery. Your projects will cover impact assessments, biodiversity stewardship site assessments, biodiversity certification assessments, EPBC referrals, and strategic advisory. Given ERM’s leadership in ecological services for the renewable energy sector, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver best practices in this evolving sector.
Role Responsibilities:
* Deliver biodiversity values and constraints assessments, rehabilitation monitoring, biodiversity surveys, impact and offset assessments, and ecological management plans.
* Conduct environmental analyses, mapping, research, and field surveys.
* Prepare Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements.
* Advise on regulatory frameworks and project approval pathways.
* Write technical environmental reports, proposals, and tenders.
* Plan and manage projects of varying complexity and scale.
* Undertake technical reviews.
* Build client relationships and pursue new business opportunities.
* Mentor junior staff and support their professional development.
Candidate Requirements:
* 10+ years’ experience in biodiversity impact assessment.
* Tertiary qualifications in zoology, ecology, or related discipline.
* Extensive experience leading ecological/zoological inputs and directing field survey teams.
* Experience in bushfire risk assessments is beneficial.
* Strong understanding of WA ecosystems, regulatory frameworks, and policy.
* Proven track record in environmental impact assessments and business development.
* Willingness and experience in managing and mentoring junior staff.
* Full Australian driver’s license.
