Build a World-Class Defence Manufacturing Operation
Laserdyne Technologies designs and manufactures mission-critical electro-optical systems for defence customers around the world. Our products operate in the harshest environments on Earth—and failure is not an option.
We are entering a major growth phase. Demand is real. The opportunity is substantial. The challenge is hard.
We are now seeking an exceptional Production Manager to help build the next era of our manufacturing capability.
This is not a “keep-the-lights-on” role.
This is a build something great role.
You will work directly with the General Manager and executive team to design, stabilise, and scale a high-mix, high-complexity production environment. You will own outcomes. You will shape systems. You will lead people. You will turn potential into performance.
What You Will Do
You will be accountable for the performance of the factory floor.
That includes:
· Owning daily production output, flow, and delivery performance
· Designing and enforcing disciplined production systems
· Building predictable throughput in a complex, defence-grade environment
· Creating clarity: schedules, standards, visual controls, and cadence
· Leading, coaching, and developing supervisors and production staff
· Driving lean thinking, waste removal, and operational excellence
· Embedding quality into process—not inspecting it at the end
· Partnering with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to create a single, coherent operating system
· Turning chaos into order, and order into scale
This role exists to raise the ceiling of what the factory can achieve.
Who You Are
You are not a caretaker.
You are a builder.
You likely have:
· Experience in defence, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing
· A track record of leading complex production teams
· Deep operational instincts—flow, bottlenecks, cadence, yield
· High personal standards and low tolerance for mediocrity
· The ability to bring calm, clarity, and structure under pressure
· The courage to confront reality and fix what is broken
· The ambition to build something enduring and world-class
You may not tick every conventional box. That’s fine. What matters is that you can turn intent into results and build teams that perform .
Why This Role Is Different
· You will shape the system, not inherit a finished one
· You will have real authority and executive backing
· You will be measured on outcomes, not activity
· You will help build sovereign Australian manufacturing capability
· You will leave a visible, lasting imprint on a growing enterprise
If you are the kind of leader who wants to own the hard problems—not avoid them—this role will stretch and reward you.
Due to the nature of our business only applicants who are Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents need apply.
