About the team
The Chief Technology Office branch is responsible for the delivery of corporate ICT services. Services include enterprise policy, standards and planning, architecture, project delivery, telecommunications and the support and management of corporate ICT systems in partnership with multiple vendors and business users.

About the role
The City of Gold Coast is seeking a highly capable Senior Network Engineer to deliver complex network infrastructure projects from design through to installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.
This is a senior technical role within a team of experienced network engineers. You will take end‑to‑end ownership of your allocated projects, working across multiple network platforms and technologies. The position requires strong technical judgement, autonomy, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality engineering outcomes.
This role is hands‑on and varied, suitable for someone who enjoys both detailed design work and practical onsite implementation. You will work across a range of City facilities including depots, libraries, operational sites, communications rooms, and water & waste locations.
Participation in the on‑call roster is required, providing after‑hours support when necessary.
We’re looking for people who have:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear language for all stakeholders
* The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
* Solid understanding of network architecture and security concepts
* Expert proficiency in routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
* Experience managing firewalls and routing (Cisco & Check Point)
* Experience with Cisco DNAC, Cisco ISE, SolarWinds, and Zero Trust principles
* Experience in a similar role within a large, complex organisation
* Experience with cloud networking (Azure)
* Experience producing design documentation and diagrams using tools such as Microsoft Visio
* CCNA, JNCIA, or similar vendor certifications (desirable)
* A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the LGA for device installation and troubleshooting activities
