Production Technician – Miniaturised fibre‑optic products
Miniprobes is a South Australian high‑tech start‑up, developing fibre‑optic products for the Agricultural sector.
We have developed a new type of imaging scanner that can automatically identify high quality meat for the lamb and beef sector – allowing you to find that perfect lamb roast or steak. Using miniaturised imaging optics, the size of a human hair, our scanner uses AI analysis to quantify meat quality. Come and join our team of experienced engineers bringing this product to market - making Australian meat the best in the world.
About the role
We have completed product development and have started installing our first systems at meat processing plants. Over the next 2 years, we'll install another 6 – 10 systems across Australia. We are looking for a skilled production technician to join our team.
You will be responsible for manufacture of the component at the heart of this product – the highly miniaturised fibre‑optic imaging probes. This involves the precise assembly of a number of fibre‑optic, plastic and metal components into a working imaging probe. You will gain extensive experience in hands‑on product assembly. With support from the rest of the team, you will help us to improve our manufacturing processes and quality assurance tests. As we are a small, growing company, you will have the opportunity to help define the processes that we will use in production. As the team expands over the next 2‑3 years, there is potential to manage a growing production team.
About you
We are looking for someone with excellent manual skills and experience in assembly of small components. The ideal candidate will be keen to learn new technical areas, such as optics and photonics. They will have an exceptionally high attention to detail and be constantly trying to find new ways to improve the production processes to gain improved product yield.
You will have at least 5 years of experience in device assembly within a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally including manufacturing of small components requiring magnification.
Key Responsibilities
Perform hands‑on product assembly tasks with an extremely high degree of precision.
Collaborate with design engineers to identify and resolve issues related to assembly, commissioning, and performance.
Maintain and update manufacturing and test records.
Improve manufacturing and quality assurance processes for production.
Perform quality checks on components to meet both internal and external standards.
