If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Communications and Engagement Officer at the Local Council in Perth's inner western suburbs.
**Role Description**
As a Communications and Engagement Officer, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between the council and the community. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing communication strategies, managing public relations initiatives, and fostering community engagement through various channels.
You will have the chance to shape the council's public image, promote its initiatives, and strengthen relationships with residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Engagement e Organise and prepare community engagement events and activities, and if required attend the events and activities.
- Manage the engagement projects calendar and updates, in liaison with Coordinator Communications and Engagement.
- Develop, publish, and inform on consultation and community engagement projects
- Maintain the currency and accuracy of the content of all community engagement pages.
- Prepare and distribute Community Engagement Newsletters
- Set press advertisements in local newspaper(s).
- Manage and monitor the City's social media accounts, including content development for social media channels, copywriting, and design. e Arrange bookings, interviews and photo opportunities for various City and external publications.
- Provide board media and communication advice to staff and service teams to facilitate effective marketing and communications.
- Develop, deliver, and report on effective cross-channel campaigns as required.
- Prepare and implement systems, procedures, and workflows to achieve marketing and communications excellence.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a communications or public relations role, preferably in a government or community-focused organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and platforms.
- Strong knowledge of digital communication channels, social media platforms, and content management systems.
- Proficiency in graphic design and video editing software is a plus.
- Experience in community engagement, stakeholder management, or event coordination is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to community development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

**Preferred background**:
You will need to have demonstrated experience writing and implementing communications strategies with relevant qualification. Government experience would be favoured, but is not essential.
