Overview

Pinjarra Golf Club is an outstanding 18-hole golf course located in the Peel region of Western Australia, southeast of Mandurah. The club has a growing membership base and receives over 15,000 green players per year. The Board has set development objectives including membership growth and facility improvements, and is advancing plans for a golf course masterplan, new clubhouse, mini-golf and a limited-flight driving range to attract future generations of golfers.

Reporting to the Board, Pinjarra Golf Club seeks an experienced, senior level professional to facilitate the role of General Manager responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Club.

About the role

To be considered as a successful candidate, the Club is seeking a natural leader with a keen eye for detail, effective time management, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The applicant must foster a healthy workplace culture and be capable of working with various stakeholders, including the Club's Board, members, staff, sponsors, guests, visitors and Local Government officers. They should have a genuine interest in service excellence across all areas of golf and a passion for growing golf participation within the Club and community to support development and growth ambitions.

Candidates must possess a minimum of 3-5 years of management experience in golf, hospitality or sport recreation. Applicants must have current Australia work authorization at the time of application.

Key responsibilities

* Oversee and guide all aspects of the Club's primary functions (Course, Golf shop, Clubhouse and Administration).
* Work closely with the Board and the Shire of Murray to identify grant funding opportunities and initiatives that support future developments.
* In consultation with the Board, assist in implementing the strategic direction of the Club and lead delivery of compliance deliverables and other KPI's.
* Drive a culture of service excellence across all areas of the Club's operations.
* Ensure the Club's property is maintained to a high standard.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements including Industrial Relations, Work, Health & Safety, ATO requirements and the Club Constitution.
* Evolve the Club to a higher-level service-focused environment for members, guests, sponsors and the wider community.
* Implement programs to build employee, member and guest engagement.
* Support and develop staff across all departments, identifying and implementing procedural, training, and operational needs.

Qualifications and Experience

* The successful candidate would ideally have experience as a senior-level manager in managing the day-to-day operations of a golf club, and a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with a Board, members and Department Heads.
* Proven record of delivering positive business growth at a golf club (or similar size club).
* Proven ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders including members, staff and the wider community.
* Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets, cost control, achievement of targets and delivery of outcomes to plan.
* Preparation of Board packs and financial reporting is essential.
* Ability to support and guide the Board through compliance, quality and regulatory issues including overseeing adherence to the Club Constitution.
* Exposure to a variety of marketing activities including website, social media platforms and strong member and visitor communication strategies.
* Experience in overseeing the delivery of major programs – e.g. capital works projects.
* Familiarity with MYOB, MiClub and SwiftPOS.
* Strong networks in the golf industry, GMWA or similar.
* Proven record of positive community engagement, including contracting of club sponsorships and corporates.
* WA Approved Managers Certificate.
* Responsible Service of Alcohol Certification.
* A passion for self-improvement.
* Acknowledgement of the seven-day-a-week nature of the industry; weekend and evening hours will be required.
* A base remuneration of $110,000 per annum plus superannuation.
