The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Asset Manager to join their team in Lithgow, NSW for a temporary two-year contract.
The Strategic Asset Manager will oversee a proper and efficient management system for all classes of Council assets, aligned with leading practices and integrated within Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework.
This role is responsible for strategic decisions regarding asset management, providing advice to the Executive Team and Asset Managers, and leading initiatives that promote sustainable and effective asset management across the council.
Key Decision-making Requirements
* Project management and delivery decisions
* Project resourcing, planning, and scheduling decisions
* Risk management decisions
This strategic position will significantly influence the governance and management of Council assets, supporting the development of innovative, cross-departmental asset management initiatives to enhance community services and sustainability.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage Asset Management Frameworks, policies, and strategies based on best practices
* Promote asset management as an organization-wide activity
* Establish organizational structures with clear roles and responsibilities for asset management
* Coordinate with asset custodians and engineers to align asset planning with community, service, financial, social, and environmental goals
* Oversee the development and review of Infrastructure & Asset Management Plans
* Manage special projects related to asset management improvements

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Asset Management, or a related field
* At least 5 years of relevant experience in managing major engineering assets and projects
* A Class "C" NSW Driver's Licence
* Experience with asset management compliance, ISO 55000, and change management
* Knowledge of asset management frameworks and software systems
Experience with Local Government IP&R frameworks is highly desirable.
Salary and Benefits
* Weekly salary between $2,280.21 and $2,480.74, commensurate with experience
* Temporary, 2-year contract
* 35 hours per week with work/life balance initiatives
