Job Summary:
The individual selected for this position will work closely with the customer to address complex scientific problems related to a variety of areas such as physics, chemistry, and the earth sciences. The candidate should have the ability to perform independent research and develop appropriate solutions to scientific problems, which will be important considerations in the selection process.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and interpret scientific codes and algorithms.
2. Conduct research on forces, structures, and phenomena.
3. Evaluate experiment results and perform quality control tests.
4. Develop and analyze the results of models.
5. Perform data analysis and interpretation.
6. Create modeling tools and modify existing tools using common programming languages.
7. Prepare reports.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
* Must be a US citizen.
* Active secret or higher clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
* Master’s degree in the physical sciences with 10 or more years of experience, or a PhD with a proven record of research in the relevant field.
* Expertise in physics-related disciplines such as astrophysics, nuclear physics, electromagnetic theory, hydrodynamics, etc.
* Proficient in creating tools in common programming languages.
* Knowledge of engineering science and technology.
* Strong analytical thinking skills.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good report-writing skills.
* Ability to perform multi-tasking and judgment in job duties.
* Successful background and drug screening checks.
Additional Qualifications:
* PhD degree.
* Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC), GPU, parallel, or tensor processing.
* Familiarity with astrophysics, nuclear physics, electromagnetic theory, hydrodynamics.
* Expertise in Finite Volume and/or Finite Difference Time Domain methods.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The work environment is primarily office-based. May occasionally involve lifting up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, and focus adjustment. Employees will frequently sit, use hands, and communicate verbally.
