Program Summary
The Marine Corps' Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) and Marine Corps Prepositioning Program support our Nation's interests worldwide by providing essential elements for crisis response, global reach, and forward presence. This program enables rapid deployment of Marine Air Ground Task Forces (MAGTFs) and augmenting Marine units forward deployed. These forces strengthen alliances, secure strategic access, and defeat adversaries. MPF is crucial for setting conditions for national security, supporting MAGTFs from MEU, MEB, to MEF levels, and enabling operations across the Joint Operational continuum, including shaping, deterrence, and stabilization. Prepositioned equipment supports a MEB-sized MAGTF for 30 days, reducing lift requirements.
Job Summary
Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and construction equipment such as tractors, power shovels, road machinery, air compressors, concrete mixers, and other engine-driven or towed equipment. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to lower-level mechanics and assists higher-level mechanics. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of related work experience
- Completion of the Basic Engineer Program Mechanics Course or equivalent
- Completion of the Engineer Equipment Chief Course or equivalent
- Valid passport and State Driver's License
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to follow established methods, standards, and schedules
- Travel up to 70% of the time
- Deployable within 72 hours
- U.S. Citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC and Base Access
