Ready to lead ICT business engagement at DAFF? As Director, ICT Business Engagement you’ll provide clear leadership, strengthen governance, demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement and partner with business areas to deliver fit-for-purpose ICT solutions.
Why YOU are important to us and what impact will you have on the ICT Services Division and the departments’ goal.
The ICT Services Division (ISD) delivers secure and modern technology solutions that enable the department to operate effectively around the clock. We manage ICT systems that support collaboration, innovation and service delivery across all areas. Our goal is to provide a reliable digital environment that empowers staff to focus on outcomes, not technical barriers. By continuously improving our platforms and tools, we help the department stay agile, connected and ready to meet future challenges.
The ICT Enabling Services branch delivers ICT capabilities that support the department’s operations and align with modern ways of working. Our team ensures that ICT services are reliable, secure and responsive to business needs. We work closely with other areas to enable seamless collaboration, efficient workflows and continuous improvement. By providing the right tools and support, we help staff stay productive and connected, ensuring the department can deliver its services effectively and adapt to future challenges.
As Director, ICT Business Engagement you will lead the department’s ICT Business Engagement function, providing strong, visible leadership and setting clear direction and accountability for outcomes. The role is responsible for the ICT Front Door, ensuring disciplined, transparent and well-governed intake and prioritisation of demand. Working closely with business areas, the Digital Business Division and ICT Services delivery teams, you will enable early engagement, sound investment decisions and fit-for-purpose ICT solutions aligned to departmental priorities.
This is where you play an important role.
As the Director of ICT Business Engagement you will:
• provide strong, visible leadership of the Business Engagement function, leading and mentoring a high-performing, customer-focused team and driving a culture of professionalism and service.
• apply strong, current expertise in business engagement to set clear direction, expectations and accountability for outcomes
• be accountable for the department’s ICT Front Door, ensuring consistent, disciplined and well-governed intake, triage and prioritisation of ICT demand
• work confidently with staff at all levels (including SES) to ensure early engagement and improve ISD’s understanding of business problems
• work in partnership with the Digital Business Division (DBD) and ISD delivery teams to identify and progress fit-for-purpose, value-for-money solutions aligned to departmental priorities
• exercise sound judgement and authority to balance business needs, strategic priorities, resourcing constraints and delivery risk within ICT investment planning and governance processes
• coordinate and assure ICT input to New Policy Proposal submissions, including all Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) requirements
• lead continuous improvement of the ICT Front Door, business engagement and request management processes to strengthen transparency, governance and customer experience.
Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill one ongoing vacancy. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
Our ideal applicant will have:
• proven experience providing strong, visible leadership including supervising and mentoring high-performing teams to deliver outcomes and foster a professional, customer-focused culture
• demonstrated expertise in business engagement, with the ability to work confidently with a broad range of customers and stakeholders at all levels, including SES, to enable early engagement and shared understanding of business problems
• experience managing the intake, triage and prioritisation of work requests in a complex ICT or digital environment, ensuring disciplined, transparent and well-governed demand management
• demonstrated experience operating within ICT or digital governance frameworks, exercising sound judgement to balance business needs, strategic priorities, resourcing constraints, delivery risk and value for money
• knowledge and understanding of the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) Service Design and Delivery process, including experience coordinating and assuring ICT input to New Policy Proposals
• a demonstrated capability to lead continuous improvement of business engagement and request management processes to strengthen governance, transparency and customer experience.
