Our Operations BHP Carrapateena is a large-scale, world-class underground mine operated by highly skilled people.
Ore from Carrapateena is processed through conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation methods.

Located 472 km northwest of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province.
The mine is on traditional land of the Kokatha people.
It produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade.
Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8/6 FIFO from Adelaide, Day/Night rotational roster
About the Role We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified Mechanical Fitters to work at our Carrapateena operations.
The role involves performing planned, unplanned, and breakdown maintenance activities within our underground maintenance team for future positions as they arise.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor - Underground Fixed Plant, you will:
Follow safety standards and procedures to work safely and effectivelyProvide technical expertise for maintenance and troubleshooting of plant equipmentDevelop strong relationships with operations personnel to address plant downtime issues promptlyCommunicate progress to the maintenance supervisorPerform planned maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, chutes, crushers, pumps, ventilation fans, and refrigeration compressorsRespond to breakdowns with sound troubleshooting skillsContribute to a safety-conscious culture by adhering to safe work procedures and BHP valuesPromote an engaged, diverse, and positive team environmentAbout You Commitment to safety and wellbeing, with the confidence to speak upAustralian-recognized Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Mechanic) qualificationsEffective communication skills across levels and functionsExperience in operational maintenance environmentsExperience in underground mining is highly advantageousExperience with SAP is desirableHigh risk license is essentialWorking at Heights and Confined Space competencies are desirableExpressions of Interest close: 15 June 2025 Our Recruitment Process We are committed to fair and equitable recruitment.
